The Space Between
Poetry Issue #1
In this space between us,
Between you and me, I see
Stories unfold and secrets bared,
And I see the words unsaid, lingering
On the gentle tips of our lips
And the space between them.
I see you see me see you,
In the 6-inch space held tightly
In our hands, warping time and space,
Yet hands remain unheld
And fingers untouched.
Two hearts in different places
Echoing across empty spaces,
Inching closer week by week,
Bit by bit, as words spill
From our wanting lips.
And as you let out your secrets
And I let out mine,
Godlessly I pray—
For distance to become touch.
